Yes. Anyone offering Dog Day Care or Dog Boarding must be licensed by law. After a rigorous assessment, Dacorum Borough Council awarded us the highest rating of 5 stars for the new Animal Activity Licence recently introduced by DEFRA.
Our licence number is M046947
We follow guidelines set out by the CFSG (Canine & Feline Sector Group) which have been updated in January 2021. In essence we have a handover protocol for when dogs arrive at and leave our premises for Day Care and Boarding which includes keeping to the 2 metre rule, wearing face masks, sanitising all equipment used, spraying dogs with Canine Disinfectant and only using our own leads. We also wash our hands and sanitise surfaces at our premises several times during the day.
Dogs should arrive at Day Care between 8.15am and 8.30am and be collected between 4.30pm and 5.30pm (Mon-Fri). However, we can be flexible on these times by prior arrangement and a small extra fee may be chargeable.
Definitely! Some Day Care centres just have an enclosed field for dogs to play in which can get quite chaotic. We take our dogs out into the countryside for proper walks twice a day. This way they are able to explore many new places and experience the lovely countryside we have around us where they can have lots of great adventures!
Absolutely! We always invite customers and their dog to have a look at our setup here and ask any questions. It is important that you are happy with where your dog would be staying for Day Care or Boarding. We are confident you will be impressed!
At this initial meeting we will explain how we operate and what your dog will be doing while in our care. We will also run through some questions of our own as it is important that we feel that this would be the right environment for your dog. We'll give you our Registration Form at the end of the meeting to take away and complete if you decide that you'd like us to look after your dog.
*** Please note that during this time of the Covid-19 pandemic, our meetings are held under Covid secure guidelines.
Yes. All dogs in our care must be up to date with vaccinations for Leptospirosis, Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvovirus. We will ask to see your dog's vaccination certificate at the initial meeting.
We also recommend vaccination for Kennel Cough. We cannot be held responsible if your dog contracts Kennel Cough while in our care as it is an airborne virus over which we have no control.
Your dog must also be treated against fleas and worms regularly.
Yes. We are insured by the Protectivity Insurance company for Dog Walking, Dog Day Care and Dog Boarding. You are welcome to ask to see our insurance details at the 'Meet and greet' session.
We are only able to take bookings on a regular weekly basis. There is however, flexibility to change the day(s) your dog attends Day Care each week, provided sufficient notice is given and we have space on your required day(s).
Definitely! We take lots of photos of the dogs in our care (weather permitting!) and post them on our Facebook page. Customers like to see the fun their dog has been having and all the friends they make. We also update this website's Gallery page regularly so your dog may well appear on this site as well!
All dogs sleep in our house - we do not use kennels. We have a dedicated 'Doggy Dormitory' which is a large, warm comfortable room with plenty of dog beds and crates if needed.
It's essential that your dog is happy in this environment if coming for Day Care or Boarding and so yes, trial days and trial nights are offered so that we can monitor how your dog is settling in. How many trial days are needed is established by mutual agreement. These trial days and nights are charged at the normal rate stated on the Services page.
Generally, we only take on dogs over a year old. However, occasionally we take dogs under this age if they are trained, well behaved and properly socialised. Please be in touch if you wish to discuss the possibility of us looking after your puppy.
This is a service that we have had to suspend due to Covid-19. We do not want to risk entering customers' houses with the potential for spreading infection.
